What is one system that has worked well for you in managing diverse types and sources of data? Why?

RecoveryTV: A web tool for the public to monitor use of recovery funds

idea

What is the idea?

ITT proposes RecoveryTV, a web tool to communicate with the public on the use of recovery funds via video.  The concept is to place a custom online video portal on Recovery.gov with channels for each Recovery government agency (see non-interactive mock up at www.visionvideoinc.com/recoverytv).  An online video portal could also be incorporate into each government agencies Recovery website with channels for each division.  Existing videos from agencies can be incorporated as well as produced updates.  Testimonials from individuals who have benefited from Recovery funds could also be produced and featured.  ITT has the expertise to develop RecoveryTV and oversee the video production for the channels.  Here's a link to an interactive demo: www.visionvideoinc.com/tv.

Why is it important?

Online Video Chart

According to a recent eMarketer survey, more than two-thirds of respondents said they will focus their budgets on online video this year.

More than one-half of respondents also expected to be implementing or extending an online video project in Q2 2009.

This is an excellent idea! We are bound to see videos related to Recovery projects on state and local government web sites and youtube as well. It would be great to organize a channel of these videos on Recovery.gov, or even offer a guide of what to include in a video and how to "tag it" or submit it so it is discovered by Recovery.gov.

I had been thinking about video in terms of helping IT people at all levels work with various tools (ex: PeepCode - still a good idea) - but the notion of encouraging citizens to share via videos is fabulous. Including the human side is an important part of IT.
